Review of The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong

If you’re looking for a gorgeous, adventure-filled, heart-warming, cosy fantasy with found family and delicious baked goods, then The Teller of Small Fortunes is ABSOLUTELY the book that you need to immediately add to your TBR pile this November.

Fortune teller, Tao, is traveling the countryside (some may say running away from something), living solely on people’s generosity and the ability to share their fortunes with them. This is a lonely lifestyle that Tao has become accustomed to.

However, everything changes when Tao crosses paths with an array of characters, including a magical cat(!), in the hunt for a missing child. What transpires is an eclectic bunch of strangers who slowly find themselves building relationships with one another.

Every single word of this book is beautiful. The writing, the characters, the joy and, at times, sadness that drips from these pages is as delicious as the descriptions of the baked goods shared. I could smell the baking and feel the warmth of the storyline as I read.

The Teller of Small Fortunes is much more than a book, it’s something truly special which entwines themes of friendship, hope, identity and much, much more. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget this book, I loved it to the core.

I am very excited to read more from Julie Leong who I am very sure is going to be a big name in cosy fantasy fiction! I am so jealous of all the readers who will get to experience The Teller of Small Fortunes for the very first time this month!
