Miriam Burke's debut collection of 17 short stories is a love letter to women and how they love. Surprising in its breadth, this collection follows carers, cleaners, emigrants, transgender parents, sperm donors, and even burglars. With a focus on LGBTQ+ experiences, Burke writes with a keen eye for intimacy in all its forms, making you feel tenderness in even the most unexpected moments.
It was refreshing to read a collection in which each tale felt like being transported to another life, almost like an adult version of children's bedtime stories.
My personal favourite stories included The Otherness of People and The Unchosen.
