Review of Bad Blood by Sarah Hornsley

Writer: thedebutdigestthedebutdigest

Imagine being given your first murder case, only to realise that the suspect of a double homicide is your childhood sweetheart, Jake, who left you with no answers almost twenty years ago? This is what happened to Justine Stone who is given a trial case, her very first, when spotting the photo of the man she used to love, she returns home to uncover the truth (or come to turn with the lies). After years, Justine returns home with her trauma tucked beneath her skin in order to investigate if Jake really did commit these horrific crimes, only to find out that her beloved brother has disappeared.

Readers will be instantly drawn into a great psychological crime thriller with several twists that will keep you flipping the pages. The only slight disappointment that I felt was that this wasn’t the courtroom drama that I had expected initially, but that being said, I really enjoyed delving into Justine’s family drama, dynamics and the secrets that lay in the undercurrent below. Bad Blood really is a bingeable, twisted slice of psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed.
