Review of Nymph by Sofia Montrone

A story of a young girl named Leo who grows up in an Italian hotel enamoured by the stories her father tells her of Greek mythology, and the years later when she’s grown up and the infringement of adulthood looms.

Leo was such an inquisitive child and had such a sense of adventure and curiosity for the world. So cultured and compassionate. But after a devastating event which leads to the loss of her father, she’s in free fall and turns to new American friend Dolores for comfort and guidance. They work at her family’s hotel together and their friendship slips into a new realm as she discovers more about herself and her body.

A tender and heart aching story of growing up, grief and girlhood. An ode to myths and storytelling, and how we remember loved ones through the stories they used to tell.
