Review of Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood

Where do I even start?!

I began this book, then my whole life for two days was consumed by this book. The main tagline of Rewitched is ‘It’s time to rediscover her magic’ and I have never felt so seen and understood.

Lucy Jane Wood introduces us to Belladonna Blackthorn, whose spark hasn’t been lost but has dimmed under the pressures of her toxic boss, along with trying to hide her magic from those around her. Until, on her thirtieth birthday, a chain of events are put into action by her coven, testing her worthiness as a witch. Will Bella lose her magic forever?

With determination and the help of a handsome forced-proximity situation, Bella begins to rediscover not only her love for her magic, but also her love for herself, which we all sometimes forget to do once in a while.

Coupled with the race-against-time task of being able to keep her magic, there’s also a mystical mystery bumbling under the surface which sees our wonderful protagonist, Bella, go from strength to strength. With an array of characters adding to the outstanding world-building of this book, I can safely say that Rewitched is one of my top books of the year!

I’m a 90's girly and lived in the era of Sabrina The Teenage Witch. For me, Rewitched provided some throwback nostalgia which I completely adored and the whole essence of this book found its way into my heart. I utterly loved it. I saw parts of myself in Bella and her strength and the rekindling of her magic empowered me - that, coupled up with some majorly cosy autumnal vibes (ideal for the Gilmore Girl season!), this is going to be the PERFECT read for those book-hibernation-ber months!
