Review of Sound Advice by Alan Green

This debut will be your perfect soundtrack to late summer and looking ahead, it should be on every musicophile’s Christmas list later this year. A genuinely fun and inspiring non-fiction read unlike any other The Debut Digest has reviewed.

In Sound Advice, Alan Green takes a deep dive into why humankind has been forever obsessed with music and how we can harness that love to improve our daily lives. I was hooked as soon as he quoted the iconic Kylie Minogue on page 1 and I stucwk around through fascinating chapters linking music and fashion, love (including marriage and divorce), religion and many more including more obscure themes such as parental advice and meteorolgy. Green even makes connections between ABBA and Einstein so if that doesn’t intrigue you, I don’t know what will! Literature nerds will love the lyrical analyssis and if you’re a child of the 80s looking for a nostalgic trip down memory lane or just a lover of how music has shaped our world, you’ll love this book. Full of heart and quirky facts, it truly is sound advice.
