A famous chef and ghost writer romance: this book is the epitome of Book Lovers meets The Seven Year Slip. Kerian has just won the cooking contest Fire on High and is about to write his own cookbook, but he’s not the one who’s actually writing it. Ellie is a cookbook ghost writer and has been asked to work on Kerian’s new book, but he has no vision and is always late. Ellie is still grieving the sudden death of her fiancee Max and lives in her parent-in-law’s garden cottage. She’s an overly organised workaholic who is saving to be able to move out and live her own life. But working with Kerian is difficult. He doesn’t even use cookbooks, so how its he supposed to know how to write one? But when him and Ellie are forced to spend a week in a house out of town to work on the book, they get closer and discover there is chemistry when they cook together.
When Kerian asks Ellie to be his date to his parents’ wedding anniversary party, what starts as a fake dating rouse to get his parents off his back, turns into the pair enjoying each other’s company. Kerian doesn’t do relationships and Ellie hasn’t been with anyone intimately since Max passed away, so they become friends-with-benefits. But as the heat turns up, will they be able to ignore their feelings?
There was so much diverse representation within this romance! From plus sized bodies to dyslexia, The Slowest Burn is definitely a romance that should be on your autumn reading list.
