A New Zealand–set thriller that will keep you glued to every tension-filled page, The Vanishing Place.
Twenty years ago, Effie escaped the bush, leaving behind her father, her siblings, and a cabin haunted by violent memories. Now, decades later, she’s drawn back when a young girl emerges from the wilderness covered in blood, bearing an uncanny resemblance to Effie, and fleeing from the very same cabin she once ran from. The only difference this time? There’s been a double murder.

If you’re looking for a page-turning thriller drenched in suspense, secrets and thrill, then Zoe Rankin’s debut is the book for you. I was immediately transported to the wilderness of the New Zealand bush, utterly immersed in to a story that had me hooked line and sinker!
One of my favourite elements of The Vanishing Place was the time-slip chapters from Effie’s POV, where we given front row seats to the past events which led her to fleeing her home. The timeline worked in such a perfect way, answering certain questions the reader had, but also opening up for more intrigue and suspense, it also created a more understanding of Zoe’s main character. One of the nbest thrillers that I’ve read for a while!
