Review of Witch Queen Rising by Savannah Stephens

After ten years in a self-imposed isolation, Seraphine finds herself back at the home she ran from. Torment and nightmares haunt her as she’s forced into the role of Prime, the leader of the witchkin community. As she struggles with fitting herself back into the community she left, with old flames (and new) rearing their heads at unwelcomed moments, a darker power creeps to the edge of her attention.

Continuously stuck in a cycle of always feeling on the back foot, Phine must make decisions for not only her own people and their safety but also the other magical communities that the witchkin share land and community with. As the story unravels, we see her stepping into her power and watch as she takes control.

Rich with sensory language that will have your tastebuds dancing, this story drops you right into the heart of New Orleans, surrounded by witches, vampires and folks of magic as power and corruption strive to destroy everything that has been created. The heart of the story beats so strongly for the family and friend relationships that we see upon the page, with enemies right under your nose from day one. I truly cannot wait to for the sequel.
