Review of The Court of Venus by Bel Banta

Join the darkly, dangerous world of medieval courts with a magical twist this October as we follow Bianca navigate the unsettling truths that shroud her childhood friend’s death. Reminiscent of gothic tales and medieval fantasy, the addition of magic makes this an unforgettable debut.

The world building is phenomenal, growing and growing into a living and breathing castle and court, filled with magicians and servants and scheming royals. Every page is brimming with desire and tension between Bianca and Roland, perfectly primed to make the reader long for more.

I loved the new take upon magic within the book and the many layers of plot that always had me on my toes, unsure of who to trust. And I loved the turning of loyalties and the twists that kept me guessing until the end.
