Review of A Healthy Appetite by Katie Huttlestone

A novel to devour! Hannah is dying for a cure to the cancer which hasn’t left her body alone. She signs up to a new drug trial and records her symptoms. As a long-standing, moral vegetarian, her hunger for meat evolves over the course of her treatment until the blood of raw steaks drips down her face, savaging meat when her boyfriend isn’t around. Her sexual appetite grows out of control and her urge for motherhood, almost an impossibility as her periods dried up from the trial, is growing pregnant in her belly. She can’t trust herself with how far she’s go to sedate her appetite.
I couldn’t tell where it was going to go; the ending was spectacularly hair raising, my teeth on edge. A brilliant exploration of female rage for fans of Night Bitch by Rachel Yoder.
