Review of A Sociopath’s Guide to a Successful Marriage by M.K. Oliver

It’s time to meet your next favourite (and murderous) heroine: Lalla Rook. You’re going to LOVE HER!

A Sociopath’s Guide to a Successful Marriage opens on a murder scene in Lalla Rook’s living room, where the body of an unknown man lies, stabbed multiple times. Who is this man? And why was he in Lalla’s home? After hiding the body using the cat as a convenient excuse, she returns to hosting her son’s birthday party in true hostess style.

Lalla lives her life by a strict set of goals. A multimillion-pound home is firmly within her ambitious grasp, and her woefully unambitious husband is destined to become a partner at his law firm, whether he wants to or not. She is methodical, straight to the point, and often cold, but beneath her frigid exterior it is clear that she loves fiercely. Lalla would stop at nothing to protect those she cares about and to see them succeed, including murder and blackmail.

This was my final debut read of January, and I flew through it in two days. Lalla and the increasingly chaotic situations and I was there for every single minute of it!
