I was hooked from this statement alone:
What do #MeToo and Jane Austen have in common? More than you might think.
While we’ve been fawning over the gentlemen of our favourite classic novels, have we ever thought about how their behavious would resonate in contemporary times? Nope, me neither, until Zoe McGee brilliantly written, informative deep dive lifted off those rose-tinted glasses. In a easily digestible, thought-provokingly feminist manner, Zoe touches upon aspects of consent, innocence, womanhood and misogyny, and asks us, how far has society REALLY come? I found Courting Disaster absolutely fascinating, especially due to the depths of Zoe’s research and engaging writing.
