Review of Fellow Creatures by Emma Lowther

Are you a fan of If We Were Villains? If so, this book has to be on your TBR. Slow and careful, this story unravels around us, whispering the secrets it holds. With every page we learn more about Shannon and Victoria, the friendship that holds them together and the world they dream about. But nothing is quite as it seems. When actions stop lining up and trust fractures through the pages, who can the reader turn to?

The story is brilliant, keeping the reader on the edge from the very beginning. The unravelling is masterful, leaving every page dripping with meaning as themes of longing, jealousy and toxic friendships are explored all within the world of the elite drama schools. Love and hate play out between the characters, creating a disorientating fog that feels viscerally true to reality. But who is really the villain?

A showcase of dark academia, aesthetics explored to perfection through character interactions that had my heart in my throat. Love, loss, greed and hatred are beautifully balanced and the ending left me emotionally longing for more.
