Review of Kill Story by J. D. Maduro

A cutting workplace thriller on toxic work relationships and what happens when you believe your workplace has become a crime scene.

Skye Sullivan is the new hire at CoHab, the first co-living space in Amsterdam, but soon into the job a girl who works for the company is found dead in one of their rooms.

Skye wants to fit in with this world of young professionals, drinking white wine at after work parties and impressing her stylish boss, Yelena. But how far is she willing to get to know her colleagues when suspicion arrises that the higher-ups are getting down and dirty with the young women of the company? But it’s not just sex. Skye worries something more sinister is at play.

In a world where burn-out and workplace harassment is rife, Kill Story is a striking novel on exploitation and vulnerability. With razor sharp narration, I was fully gripped. Hard to look but harder to look away.
