Review of Love and Rent by Jo Cheetham

Oh my word, this book is incredible! If you’re looking for a book that will make you laugh out loud and fall in love with the main character, this is it. The characters feel so real and so likeable, I truly felt as though I became friends with them through the course of the story.

Taking the plunge, Hannah uproots her life away from stability, family and friends for her new partner who offers her a fresh start. But cracks start to show when the dream she’d pinned her hopes on slowly fades to reality. And with responsibilities calling her back home, Hannah has to make the choice of if she stays and tries to fix her relationship, or if she returns and moves forward with her life.

The focus on friendships and navigating life and work is perfect. At no point does it feel overdone or forced, and the humour drips from every page. While I wouldn’t describe it as feel good, it reinforced my love for life. It is full and poignant in all the right ways, deeply filled with emotions that feel human and alive.
