Review of Of Light & Leaves by Fay Taylor

Support indie publishing this Christmas by gifting your fantasy-loving friends a copy of this magical folktale. Not only a debut, it’s the first in a series from Fay Taylor, so you’re bound to be hooked. A Northumbrian folktale, Of Light & Leaves transports us to an ancient kingdom and one that is bound to the fae realm of Elfhyem. These two realms were once connected by portals but, in the modern day, Elfhyem exists only in legend. That is until Eadlin stumbles upon a family secret and things begin to unravel...

This is a novel that blends magic and thrills, perfect for lovers of folklore and fantastical tales. I liked the use of Northumbrian dialect and the author’s prose felt rich with knowledge of the natural world. Slightly spicy with inspiration pulled from D&D, I can definitely see this being a booktok fave!
