Review of The Tiny Magic Bookshop by August Bloom

Did somebody cosy, heart-warming fantasy and a magic bookshop with an array of magically creatures? Yes, August Bloom did and we are 100% here for it!

After leaving the magical village of Lampton years ago, Max is suddenly pulled back after the death of her mother. More secrets are in store when Max is told that her mother’s last wish was for her to take over the bookshop, Lamplight Books, for at least a year before selling up.

Max is faced with her own feeling of inferiorness compared to her mother, who was able to recommend a book to cater each reader’s need - whether you were a leprechaun, or some other magical creature. This novel is so beautifully written, touching upon themes of grief, life decisions, magic and hope. If you’re a fan of Gilmore Girls’ autumn vibes and TJ Klune’s found family style tropes, mixed together with the cosiness of Rebecca Thorne’s Tomes and Tea, then The Tiny Magic Bookshop is definitely the book that you need to read. Now we patiently wait for book two in the series!
