Review of There’s Nothing Left For You Here by Allegra Solomon

Here comes your next favourite short story collection. There’s Nothing Left For You Here varies in subject matter but  an ecclectic cast of young women are the thread that weaves it together.

Allegra Solomon is a master of the short story. Contemporary in style and tone, I thought each tale was told brilliantly and like many short story collections, it explores the human psyche but in a beautifully unconventional way.

It’s a collection that explores friendship, love, race, class and how women of colour can defy expectations. Most of all, what I loved here is the author’s prose, her way with words is so satisfying to read and I was obsessed the whole way through which is often hard with a short story collection! I would definitely recommend this debut and I will be waiting eagle-eyed for future work from Allegra.
