Four years ago, Sarai was held captive, where her captors attempted to murder her. Fast forward, her case was closed without any delivery of justice, as well as leaving her physically maimed. While working as a bar maiden, she meets with a customer who tells her that it is now possible for her to become a trained Petitor, a prosecutor who can magically detect lies. Sarai quickly returns to the scene that still haunts her, where she begins her training under the watchful gaze of one of the most vicious judges in all the land, Kadra, where they begin to investigate murders very similar to the attempted one of Sarai’s.
This is the first in a duology, and to be perfectly honest, I need book two STAT! With a who hurt you vibe, enemies-to-lovers trope and a protagonist trying to overcome her PTSD with her thirst for revenge, all dark romantasy lovers will be hooked from that very first page - they’ll come for the revenge and stay for THAT CHEMISTRY!
