Benny and Joy aren’t just best friends, they’re the hosts of a comedy-filled survival podcast, and their next episode explores a not-so-rhetorical scenario: being accused of murder…
Told in a format that slips backwards in time, with alternating points of view that flick seamlessly between Benny and Joy, Tiffany has written an absorbing slice of suspense, laced with tenderness and emotion throughout. I audibly gasped multiple times, and I’m not ashamed to admit I indulged in a late night coffee or two just so I could keep reading late into the night!
This Story Might Save Your Life touches upon certain dark and very real themes, but without going into overly detailed descriptions, instead striking a careful balance that allows the reader to construct the events in their own mind. I found this a really clever way of adding even further depth, not only as a means of driving the story, suspense, and unnerving atmosphere, but also of developing the characters and their psyche in our imagination.
A fabulously gripping, twisty and tender thriller wrapped around a love story, one that you'll want to fly through, yet savour. Highly recommend!
