Mack and Hailey Evans are exactly where they always envisioned themselves to be: both thriving in successful careers, living in a new home on a lakefront estate with their two beautiful children. But there’s one thing… their finances are scraping the bottom of the barrel, and somebody knows it.
When checks begin turning up in the post with their names on them—starting small and gradually growing larger, Mack can’t help but cash them, convinced they must be from his estranged father. But when an invoice arrives he’s in for quite the shock!
What transpires is a slow-burning thriller, with interjected chapters from an unknown POV that add an extra layer of suspense and tension to the story. The ending is cleverly executed, leaving us with the lingering question: how far would we go to protect our perfect lives?
