Where Shadows Meet is a delicious queer romantasy which features vampires AND Gods - and of course the humans entangled up in the immortality and curses.
We are first introduced to Favre, who sacrificed her wings for the love of a vampire Goddess, Thana, but this love story isn’t expected to be easy, because Favre very quickly discovers that everything has it’s price...
We fast forward thousands of years later, where we meet Leyla, the princess of a new species of vampire, who must travel from the safety of her home to the Island of the Dead where her best friend is being held after being captured during an attack on the island. I enjoyed the events of this Black sapphic queer romance fantasy, I appreciated the information that Patrice provides which creates the foundation of this duology, although at times, I felt that some parts over-explained to the point I glazed over. All in all a really well written first in fantasy series, with some really great diverse characters.
